Flatsitter Opens Permanent Virtual Reality Installation at Silo City, Premieres ‘White Buck’

Hidden in plain sight, a nondescript cinderblock shack set amidst industrial ruins is being transformed into a permanent virtual reality showroom in Buffalo, NY. The site, created by media arts collaborative Flatsitter, will debut on Saturday May 7th with the premiere of the latest VR experience from Flatsitter — White Buck.

‘White Buck’ is a virtual reality experience featuring traditional Seneca music from the Allegheny River Dancers recorded live inside of the Marine A grain silo complex at Silo City. The musical score will also be performed live on June 25th at the Just Buffalo Literary Center Silo City Reading Series event alongside poets Ada Limon and Matthew Bookin and artist Julian Montague.

Having hand-delivered VR experiences to 3000+ people over the course of the past three years, Flatsitter ( is no rookie when it comes to experimental virtual reality. Flatsitter is the first-ever artist to receive an Individual Artist grant from the New York State Council on the Arts for Theta — a virtual reality meditation project that has toured across North America, including Ann Arbor Film Festival, Bota Bota Spa in Montreal, Moog Festival in North Carolina, and Centro de Cultura Digital in Mexico City. Additionally, Flatsitter was one of three artists selected for a New York / Quebec three-month residency exchange program.
