El Ramo
El Ramo
Virtual Reality Film
EL RAMO is an immersive virtual reality work created in Oaxaca, bringing together performance, music, movement, and a large ensemble of collaborators.
The film draws on the writings of Octavio Paz and on ideas associated with Jean Baudrillard’s Simulacra and Simulation, particularly the collapse between image, ritual, representation, and reality.
Moving through bodies, costumes, symbols, landscapes, and repeated gestures, EL RAMO treats virtual reality as a space where the real and the reproduced begin to lose their boundaries, and where identity can become performance, reflection, memory, and simulation all at once.
